SPEAKER PRESENTATION BOOTCAMP FOR ALL
With
Cyndi Maxey, CSP & Kevin O'Connor, CSP
This boot camp calls for 8 “recruits” who want to get enormous feedback on a short piece of their professional presentations. To do this, we will have two one-hour segment – four presenters each hour. You will have 5-7 minutes to present to everyone attending. You can choose any part of your presentation you want to try out: an opening, a bit of content, perhaps even a slide, a conclusion, anything that you want feedback on from the coaches (Kevin and Cyndi) and the audience attending. The coaches want you to present, not discuss what you want to present. As much as possible - act 'as if' this is a real presentation to a paying client.
You will receive audience feedback in the Chatbox from all attending in the form of:
(1) What did you like the most about this presentation?
(2) What would you suggest for next time that would make it even better?
The Coaches will then use themes from the Chatbox feedback and will weigh in verbally with their comments. Sometimes they will act like a director in a play and ask to try a part again. The MC or Moderator will save the Chatbox and send it to each presenter after the event. The Coaches recommend participants rehearse by having a Zoom meeting with yourself, recorded, so that you can test the microphone, background, and eye contact with the camera. Dress as you would professionally and for a real client.
The BONUS GIFT
Kevin and Cyndi have each offered a half-hour consultation with Bootcamp Recruits about their presentations within the next month.
The BEST BONUS
This Feedback format is very helpful for the new as well as the experienced speaker as it provides a workshop without criticism or judgment.

About Our Coaches:
Cyndi Maxey, CSP
Cyndi Maxey served as our Chapter President and presented at NSA national conferences and Meet the Pro’s; she earned the CSP designation in 2000. Professionally, her audiences have included thousands of corporate and association professionals as well as students at DePaul, Loyola, and Columbia College. She was awarded Loyola University’s student-nominated Award for Excellence in Adult Learning.
Along the way she’s co-authored six books - all with major publishers - on communication and presentation skills – four of them with Kevin E. O’Connor. You will find many concepts from their book, Present Like a Pro, at work today.
In her free time, she can be found playing mediocre tennis, lake walking, singing second soprano with the Edgewater Singers, or enjoying a call from her two active grown children who continue to bring both balance and chaos to life.
Kevin O'Connor, CSP
Kevin has been speaking professionally since 1976 specializing in physician leaders. He teaches graduate students at Chicago’s Loyola University and coaches speakers and other professionals who are in transition. He is a past president of NSA-IL and sits on the NSA Chapter Leadership Council. He has three masters degrees and holds the CSP, Certified Speaking Professional, designation. Fewer than 600 persons in the world hold this honor for speaking excellence. Up until March he was in the airport three times a week; now he just drives through O’Hare to reminisce, then hurries home to Zoom!
