Bio

Cynthia Goody has been described as an author, business maven, career consultant, chief dietitian, empowerer of people, public health nutritionist, returned Peace Corps Volunteer-Guatemala, restaurant nutrition pioneer, spokesperson and Mom.

A firm believer in, “To whom much has been given, much is expected in return,” Cindy believes to feed the world’s growing population we must cultivate the leadership skills within the food industry via moments of gratitude, resilience, opportunities and wisdom to GROW.

With a broad range of professional experiences including ingredients and nutrition research, leadership development. public affairs and communications, Dr. Goody served as the public and regulatory affairs lead for the  McDonald’s Corporation, developing food ingredient and nutrition strategies, providing nutritional science expertise and overseeingMcDonald’s the labeling and regulatory information processes for the company’s menu of choices so customers may make informed decisions.

Dr. Goody has been involved in the Diabetes Care and Education and Food and Culinary Professionals Practice Groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also the author and editor of Cultural Food Practices, a 250+ page professional reference published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Cynthia has participated as an invited faculty member for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Culinary Institute of America and the Harvard School of Public Health’s Continuing Medical Education. Prior to joining McDonald’s USA, Dr. Goody served as a supermarket dietitian for HY-VEE Food Stores, Inc. in Iowa City, IA, where she provided nutritional counseling and developed wellness programs. She has also delivered clinical diabetes care and education in both domestic and international diabetes settings.

Cynthia holds a Ph.D. and M.B.A from The University of Iowa; an M.S. (double major) in Food Science, Human Nutrition and Family and Consumer Sciences; and a B.S. in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Iowa State University with a dietetic internship completed at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
